Green Eggs and Elk

I knew that one day I would become fully entrenched in becoming an Oregonian, that day came nearer yesterday. I realize I still have tons to learn and much to still fall in love with but I did take a giant step forward to being one with my new home state. It all seems simple but to actually become an Oregonian takes time and effort.

I had a great friend cook breakfast for dinner, this is not that unusual but what we had was a bit out of the ordinary for a guy who spent most of his life in the fly over states or in Southern California.  First off we had eggs from the chickens that were running around. They look like ordinary birds but the egg shells are green. Next up were the biscuits with blueberry jam and then we had big hunks of elk meat.

I have to say that I am now a big fan of elk meat. I guess that I will have to grab a bow and go tromping through the woods looking for my next meal. This is part of Oregon that I really never thought about while I was prepping to move here, it is a part though that I have really enjoyed. What Okie would not dream of eating fresh salmon, oysters, bear and elk meat.

and now a commercial from my new home town.... posted originally by Rachel Pearson

Run for the Rhodies in Florence. Register before 8:30 a.m. Saturday 22 May 2010 at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince Street (behind Safeway). A sweet 5k or 10k, depending on your preference... but your friends will be there to run with you or cheer you on... or raise the first glass of the day as you come screaming up Bay Street.

Thanks Florence, thanks Oregon and thanks to all of my friends... one day I will be a fully vested Oregonian and I will work to help other people learn to love the state and town just as people have helped me.

Ava Aston, Better Then Sandra Bullock

Anyone who knows what I think about Sandra Bullock will be stunned to find that I admire Ava even more.....

Very late last night I was emailing back and forth with friends, family and people I like to harass, Ava was kind enough to fall into the friends column. If you are a bit slow on the uptake of who Ava Aston is she is just like Brittney Spears ..... well if Brittney had talent, was good looking, was intelligent, was still relevant in American culture and could actually sing. Ok, Ava is nothing like Ms Spears but that is a good thing and I mean a VERY good thing.

The one thing I honestly enjoy about Ava is the fact that she is in touch with the heart beat of the new American revolution, I know, no politics or business but this has nothing to do with politics and well for business it does not help me one iota. I do enjoy being on the cutting edge ( or at least aware of it) of music and what is right around the corner. People who have followed any of my blogs, sites or facebook know I am pretty accurate in this area.

We The People (great patriotic song)

The longer I talked with Ava the more aware I became that she is a real person has real feelings and even has a sister who turns out not to be a complete freak (yes, this is one more swipe at Ms. Spears). This is the type of entertainer that almost all Americans can stand up and enjoy in public and be proud of her work. I am honestly hoping that if you already know about this soon to be star that you tell your friends and if you do not know about Ava then PLEASE check out the video and links at the end of this montage of lame quips you are reading on your screen.

The earlier my blog is written in the day the bigger the event was to me. Ava is such an important person to me and the rest of American culture that I could have written this at 3am but then people would have just assumed I was just some kind of freak..... I do like trying to make people figure out how big of a freak I am till much later in the day.

Lets make this viral
Youtube

Support her by paying for a tune.....
Itunes

And of course her website

This was not meant to be a commercial it was just a Dad telling people about an amazing person and hoping that at least a few people will get as excited as I am about her. One day soon, a year or less you can be watching CNN (that is if it is still around) and watch Ava being interviewed and you can tell people you knew about her before anyone else.... well accept me....:)

Let me know what you think

This is an older blog but there are several hundred new people following my blog since I wrote this. It also gives me the opportunity to be lazy......

Proof of Bigfoot?

I love to hike, explore and be an all around outdoor kind of guy. I moved to the best state in the Union of the United States and I thank God everyday for the opportunity to live in Oregon. Oregon has to be the most beautiful place on Earth and if one day I grow up to be a Yeti then I am in the right place.

I have to admit that one of the book lines that I publish does have to do with UFO's, anomalies and yes even Bigfoot but I am an unbeliever of these things. I like to joke about Bigfoot and enjoy the "idea" that there is a hairy ape guy who hangs out in the woods with nothing better to do then to scare the snot out of people. Yet, I am sad to say, I just do not buy the idea that the creature exists.

This last weekend I was out stumbling through the woods and I grabbed a photo of a bare foot in the snow, I also found a tick or rather the tick found a home on me. To be honest I cannot say that it was not just a print from an animal that melted and made it look like a "human" foot but it is so much more fun to think that the "beast" was out and about. There was a small trail of the prints in the snow but they disappeared into the undergrowth.

I know in my head that the forest beast does not exist but I plan on enjoying the discovery anyways. I really will ignore all the proof that shows the monster does not exist and just like the Star Wars nuts who claim that the movie is a documentary I will allow this small fantasy to exist in my own head.

Making Fun of Hippies

I really have no idea what I would like to write about today so I am going to pick on the LSD using, whacked out selfish hippies. Actually I am tired of trashing the poor barely literate hippie folk but I have one that keeps trying to tell me how evil I am by saying things like I am a real bigot because I do not agree with him 100% as a matter of fact I have no right to live in Oregon because I do not pass their litmus test of what they accept as people. It is funny that they (the open minded) chose to live in a town that has almost no blacks in it and they want to be the person who allows people in or keep people out. I just wonder if this hippie really should sheer their hair and become a skin head.

The fact is I have no problem with the long haired, artistic, left leaning, freedom loving people but I do have problems with the wicked, drug using, dirty, give me all your money, immoral hippie folk. This hippie guy is the same one who admits to being hooked on drugs in the past yet has no problem telling others how evil other people are.

Lets be honest, hippies are not the only people to do these vile things. It is quite normal for those of both the left and the right to over look the sins of people on their side. The problem with hippies though, is that they believe that in some insane way they are holy and have the right to say the most bigoted things and not be called on it. Just because they go around saying peace does not mean that they want peace. They will jump up with a lung full of lies just to cause problems.

Do I care about the health and well being of a hippie.....? Yes I do, I hope that they have the best life that God can provide them. I know of one though that will go around telling people how evil I am because I called them on their stupidity. He may even claim that I am stalking him on my own blogs because I do not let him say whatever he wants to on my own blogs. Even in the last week he made comments as 7 different people. I realize that LSD does trash the brain and makes a person schizophrenic so I will forgive you. I am praying for you Jim.... and thank you for giving me material for today's blog.

He is a friend of an old girlfriend that obviously is not over me yet.... now that is sick. I am surely not that great of a catch.

I Am A Hero?

(this was taken a second before the "rescue")

I am headed off to Crater Lake today but I am not sure it will be as "odd" as what happened last weekend. Last weekend I had something happen that I actually do not expect anyone to believe, the story is odd even to me and I experienced it myself.

I decided to stop toward the evening and walked up a trail to see a waterfall. The trail I took was well kept and had rails along any area where there was a drop off. It was late in the afternoon and I did not see anyone else around the falls or even on the trail. I decided to slip under the railing so I could hold onto a tree trunk and lean over the falls to get a better picture. (Please understand I have never claimed to do the smartest thing every time.)

I heard some people yelling up the river a bit and decided that they were upset that I was on the wrong side of the railing. I figured I would just ignore them, get my photo and then let them scream at me after I had the pic I wanted. The people kept screaming and they were moving my direction quickly.

I leaned over the water farther with my camera pushed out over the water when a man shoved himself through the brush and started screaming at me. It startled me and I almost fell but I was not going to look at the guy or talk to him until I had the picture I wanted. He started crying in a very loud voice which did make me snap around to see what the problem was. He just kept crying "dog, my dog".

I looked down from my precarious position just in time to see this huge red dog with terrified eyes just 2 feet from going over the falls. I threw my camera onto the shore, while holding on to the tree with one hand I reach down and grabbed the dog who was directly below me. The dog and I fought the torrent of water that was pushing him towards a certain death but between the both of us we won.

The water was freezing, the rapids were fast but the dog was saved. The man kept telling me I was  a hero and for a moment I was buying the story. I then realized that the sheer odds of me hanging onto an old tree at that exact moment was to much of a long shot for it to be just a heroic deed. I did something stupid but God had me at the right place at the right time.

I am not a hero, I personally think I was placed there for a reason. I learned that sometimes you do not need to use only your head to learn a lesson but you need to listen to your heart. My head said that the odds were long for me to be there at that moment even though they were almost impossible odds there was still a one in a million chance. My heart says there is a lesson for both me and the owner of the dog. Not just being careful with your dog by a river but something else. I am not sure yet what I am supposed to learn but I am pondering over it.

Hero? no. Maybe it has something to do with teaching me that God will take care of those who love him no matter how close the call. I have felt at times that I was about to go over a waterfall and drop to a certain death but God has always been there to reach out and snatch me from certain destruction. Everyone has felt there were horrible problems in their life but be certain, swim hard and remember God is the one who can help.

My Love Letter (the past becomes the present)

I wrote this on Valentines day of this year. I can now actually say that it has come true. I have edited it and did so in bold face. What do you think about my ability to foretell the future?

This is Valentines Day and I have discussed love for the last few days so why stop now. I have a love of my life but it is my daughter and she will leave one day to go out on her own. This is a  letter that I am writing for my future Valentine, the one that I will find one day, or maybe she will find me.

Dear Valentine, (Judy)

I am thankful the most that I have found a women that desires to have a relationship with God. Not a women who knows the right words or praises God aloud and then is vile in private. All of the attributes that I have fallen in love with exist solely because of your desire to be a woman of faith.

Men go to war and kill and die for the image of a fantasy women while men who love a real women go to work everyday, comes home and works around the house, makes sure that the little things are said and done for a women that they love. You are not perfect in this world but you are the perfect woman for me. It seems that God created you just for me. Do I get irritated at things you do? Do I find every second of every action perfect? No, but I do realize that you are a gift and I should cherish you as the gift that God Almighty has given me.

When I look at you today I see the true beauty that you are. While you are physically beautiful today you will be even more so to me when you are 80 because I will see and understand even more of what makes you beautiful. I want to know that I can hold your hand when you are 80 and see the twinkle in your eye that for so many years has made me heart pump faster and my mind go delirious with the love I feel for you.

My goal in life is to make you happy, to bring joy that you would not have had if it had not been for me showing you the preciousness of the gift that God gave me with you. When all is said and done and we are sitting together in old age I want you to be able to look at me and still be able to be thankful that you said "I do" (has not said "I do" yet). We will have spats, disagreements even arguments but when we are nearing the final days of our lives I want you to know that it was worth it because you had found a true love.

Love, your Valentine
Michael.

There will be a day that I find my Valentine in the future I may or may not have already met her but I want to make sure that this letter or one like it can be given to her and she knows that it is true. (I have found her and she is perfect "for me")

Sorry for the sappiness but hey, it is my blog......:)

The Perfect Home

Today I am off to look at houses all day long. I have become more aware in my life that a house is only a house and not a home if it does not have love in it. Thankfully I have moved to a town that I have many friends in, that is nestled into a burg that I love and that is in a state that is truly proof of the perfection of God creative power. (did you follow that rambling sentence?)

I have never been happier in my life then I am at this time in my earthly existence. I have true friends that I can talk to about anything and they can do the same with me. I live in the perfect place on this planet and I get to enjoy it all everyday. This is one of those moments in life that all people dream of and hope to experience.

While this blog is a rambling mess about my egotistical self (come on stalkers, this line was written just for you) I want to remind you that this particular blog is just what I am thinking, doing or feeling at the moment that I write it. I am content and excited at the same time about what the future holds. There have always been a few "road bumps" along the way but the payoffs have always been well worth it.

When I move into whatever house I choose I will then move in my assorted junk. The house will only be a house though till I fill it with love and then it will become a home. Home is where the heart is.........

another sappy post, but I am not sorry this time... :-)
